I'm aware of the Chambers et al work, and of Mani et al, but I wonder what is the state of the art. Are there any well performing unsupervised methods? Is timebank a good data source? Have there been any successful structured approaches to the problem? And approaches based on ranking methods?

Maybe you could add some links to your post? Googling for Timebank didn't give anything useful. I think I found the Chambers paper, but I'm not sure. I almost certainly can't answer your question but I'm interested in a reading a bit more about the field.

@Noel Welsh: done. The methods do not seem veery interesting, but the area certainly is, which is why I'm asking this question.
